Written Communication

Written communication courses offer students lessons in grammar, syntax, vocabulary development, and composition skills. Each lesson is designed to help students understand the principles of language as related to real world experiences as well as to academic endeavors. The activities are varied but all in the spirit of enjoyable, creative, and personalized exercises to maximize the learning potential of each student. Basic and more complex grammar is taught in a non-coercive way so that students learn the fundamentals easily and effectively.

Intensive Grammar Review (IGR) Intensive Grammar Review aims to develop the participants’ solid foundation in grammar fundamentals such as the parts of speech focusing on subject-verb agreement, tenses; and sentence construction. The advanced level focuses on mastering the complex grammar structures and developing varied skills in sentence construction and paragraph design.

Writing for Business Purposes (WBP) Writing for Business Purposes intends to help office employees in composing clear and effective memos, business letters, and office reports.

Creative Writing (CW) Creative Writing provides strategies for artistic expression. It allows the students to express their ideas and feelings skillfully in poetry, fiction, and scripts for stage and film.

Journalistic Writing (JW) Journalistic Writing teaches the rudiments of journalism. It covers lessons in news writing, feature writing, editorial writing, sports writing, interviewing, and editing. As a secondary objective, it aims to sharpen the student’s grammar skills and other mechanics of writing.
